Linear parks
The green territories, footpaths and leisure and park zones will occupy the considerable territory of cultural and business area.On coasts of both rivers - Neva and Okhta - architects of RMJM company suggest to lay out so-called linear parks. The tradition of linear parks in St. Petersburg can be illustrated by Summer Garden of Peter I and the Aleksandrovsky Garden stretched along the Admiralty. These parks are located in parallel or perpendicularly to spikes of significant vertical dominants near which they are located and create thereby a natural context for these constructions and recreational space for a promenade of the walking townspeople. One more interesting example of linear garden is a hanging garden on a roof of the New Hermitage.
The rows of the green plantings will create comfort in Okhta center. Internal gardens will be in all three zones. In the first zone the internal gardens will be on roofs of buildings that surround a tower - for employees of the companies those offices will be in these objects, in the second and third zones the internal gardens will be free-for-all.
The green zone will be formed by the parks connected with each other with convenient pass both to the projected center and to the Neva river. The recreational areas, restaurants, cafe, children's playgrounds, open-air scenes will be placed in parks.
The footbridge will connect the linear park on the Neva embankment with a walking zone on the Okhta bank. Thanks to this bridge the difficult task of the organization of foot movement bypassing the existing transport highways and bridges will be solved and the pleasurers will have an opportunity to continue walks on embankments not crossing the streets with intensive traffic. Footpaths will be placed along the Okhta bank line. It is possible to carry out the cultural actions and fairs in a promenade area.
The internal enclosed courts protected by parallel facades of adjoining buildings planned to be built on crossings of the basic axes of building with the central zone of complex. As well as in many well-known architectural ensembles of St. Petersburg including the Hermitage the space of enclosed courts will be reliably protected from a wind that will create the comfortable conditions for walks on all Okhta center territory.
