The project of a public and business area Okhta Center encompassing the functions of a business center and a modern public and cultural complex was to have been built in the mouth of the river Okhta, on the right bank of the river Neva at the site of former Soviet industrial premises.
The project was cancelled by the Governor´s Decree in December 2010.
The decision of the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historic and Cultural Landmarks on the enlisting of Okhta promontory into the Regional Registry of Cultural Property will definitely meet the demands of the Administration of Saint Petersburg, city conservationists, and representatives of business community.Read more

The project of the construction of Okhta Center was relocated from Krasnogvardeysky district of Saint Petersburg to Primorsky district but in any case it has given an impetus to the development of the surrounding area.
